Road Safety

The German Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA / Federal Motor Transport Authority) has designated EMC Test NRW as a technical service in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Our company is thus qualified to conduct or supervise independent tests on the basis of the directive 2007/46/EC, regulation (EU) No 168/2013, regulation (EU) No 167/2013, the German Traffic Licencing Regulations (StVZO) and the German Vehicle Components Regulations (FzTV).

As a technical service, we are authorised to conduct EMC tests as required during type-approval procedures and to submit the necessary documents for registration by the KBA.

We are also recognised by the Dutch RDW ("Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer").

The requirements for approval by the KBA are technical equipment that meets the standards and the personnel’s specific expertise in technical matters. Regular audits by the KBA ensure the quality of our processes.

We offer professional expertise and relevant equipment to solve your EMC requirements—such as testing charging stations, electric vehicles and high-voltage vehicle components."

Further Details

With EMC testing in accordance with the German Traffic Licencing Regulations (sect. 55 a StVZO) and Regulation (EC) No 661/2009, we assess whether the following products satisfy the EMC requirements:

  • Passenger cars
  • Buses
  • Lorries
  • Tractors
  • Other vehicles with comparable construction and electronic equipment
  • Trailers for aforementioned vehicles
  • Motor vehicle components (electronic sub-assemblies)

After successful testing, we write a test report which can be submitted to the approval authority. We also review the relevant documentation supplied by the manufacturer for the purpose of type-approval (application for type-approval/extension of type-approval, information documents) and we assist our clients in writing and revising them.

These documents are essential for a successful type-approval procedure. The responsible authority will determine whether the test specimen shall be registered.
